First Turning

This morning, when Kit Yi wakes up, she turn her body to left side. This is the first time Kitty turns her body on her own. Brovo Kitty!!! Even though she now can turn, but she still do not know how to turn back. Hahaha...I guess, all babies are like that.

Yesterday diarrhea does not effect her at all.

Diarrhea in Baby

Now is 2.30 am, 8 Oct 2010. First time in her life, Kit Yi diarrhea four time since 9pm just now, and finally manage to fall asleep at around 2am. Besides diarrhea , she plays and feed as normal. She feed around 2 hour once. After feeding, she seems to be happy, and very playful. Hence, I wonder what is wrong. Is this symptom of teething? I remember my mother in law said before during teething babies will diarrhea and fever. However, for Kitty, her body temperature is normal. Later in the morning, will need to bring Kitty to see doctor. Hopefully that it is not serious.

Ban Leng Medicated Windy Oil

Besides Yu Yee Oil, I also use which also has the similar effect.

The method of applying the oil is also the same as the Yu Yee Oil. This medicated windy oil can be applied to Kit Yi's belly each time after bath, and also to the top of the head. This is to curb wind, and avoid cold. For newborn babies, apply 2 drops of the Ban Leng Medicated Windy Oil, on your palm, and rub your hands together to heat up the oil. After that, gently place your palm onto the babies tummy and also on the top of the head. As the babies is still very young, we do not want to apply too much of the oil on her body, as it might be too harsh on her skin.

Yu Yee Oil

Yu Yee Oil is transitional use by Chinese in Malaysia to curb wind on newborns and babies. My mother use it since when I was newborn, and now I am using it on my Kit Yi.

Currently in Malaysia, there are two brands of Yu Yee Oil in the market. The one I am currently using is Cap Limau or in English, is Lime Brand. There is another brand which is Cap Kapal or in English, is Ship Brand. According to the seller, Cap Limau is more suitable for newborn babies as it is milder compare to the latter.

PetPet Diapers

Since birth, I bought Mamy Poko diaper for Kit Yi, Newborn size. It was quite cheap when I bought it from Tesco. RM 33.90 for NB pack 52 pieces. Within 3 weeks, the diaper is running out, and I starting using sample pack given by Sunway Hospital.

I was given 1 small pack of PetPet Diaper. How many pieces of diaper in side the pack? I cannot recall. After using it, I conclude that it is quite good in quality. Hence, after full moon, I decided to buy PetPet diaper. It is much cheaper than Mamy Poko. Medium size diaper, one jumbo pack of 80 pieces, only cost RM33.90. When there is sales, sometimes it only cost RM32.90 or RM31.90. Really great value for money.

However, I found that PetPet diaper is no good in absorbing the smell of urine. If I leave the diaper un changed during the night, for 6 or 7 hours, the diaper will have urine smell.

Pneumococcal Vaccine

Today, we give Kit Yi pneumococcal vaccination at Koe Child Clinic. This clinic is indeed very famous. We reached the clinic at around 9.15am due traffic jam, as we had to travel around 1 hour to reach this destination. Normally, with smooth traffic, we only need around 35 minutes to reach.

When we reach, the clinic already open, and I quickly register Kit Yi by writing the children name into the registration book. Gosh, Kit Yi is the 12th patient.

After registration, we went for breakfast at a vegetarian restaurant, just in front of the clinic. I have fried noodle with fried mee hoon, and add some curry into it. The taste of this noodle combination is quite ok. My husband had vegeration curry. It taste a bit weird, but still acceptable.

After our breakfast, we went back to the clinic. We waited until 11.45am, only reaches our turn. The injection happen very fast. I was instructed by the Dr. Koe to hold Kit Yi breast feeding position, with her head on my left side. Dr. Koe injected the vaccine onto her right thigh. Immediately Kit Yi cried. But after being sooth by her father, she stop crying and started smiling.

This pneumococcal vaccine cost RM300. The next dose would be in another 2 months, as the following month, Kit Yi need to take second dose of Hepatitis B vaccination.

According to Dr. Koe, for pneumococcal vaccination, Kit Yi need to be given 3 doses and 1 booster, as she started the first dose at fourth month of age, with is still small. If first dose is given after 6 month of age, then only 3 doses is sufficient. Why we don;t wait until Kit Yi is 6 month of age, then only give her this vaccination? Dr. Koe said, then Kit Yi will be without any protection during this few months.
